The Negative Impact of Energy Drinks on Sleeping Patterns

103 11
The impact of a sleep disorder can be severe.
Not getting enough sleep at night will impact how you function during the day.
Sleeping problems tend to have a cyclic effect.
Low energy during the day as a result of lack of sleep prevents you from doing things like exercise or taking care of your diet.
Diet and exercise are two things that can improve sleep and health and well-being.
Caffeine related sleep disruption is a growing concern as more and more people are consuming caffeinated energy drinks like Red Bull, Monster and V.
These have become as common as a cup of coffee for both young and old.
Caffeine is the most widely used stimulant legally available to us.
Energy drinks usually combine caffeine with other ingredients that are natural stimulants and a lot of sugar.
These drinks can make you more alert, awake and mentally sharp.
On the flip side they can make you feel anxious, edgy, irritable and give you insomnia.
If you have to consume energy drinks there are some things you can to ensure it doesn't affect your sleep.
  • Never drink an energy drink after 5pm
  • Make sure you are keeping well hydrated with water
  • Don't substitute meals with energy drinks
  • Never consume more than the recommended dose per day
  • If you notice any kind of anxiety, heart palpitations or other strange symptoms cease consumption
Sleep is an important part of staying on top of your game.
If you get enough sleep then you should have enough energy to get through the day without an energy drink boost.
