103 11
They say, you are what you eat.
However, the word 'eating' may just alarm you on the calorie content and volume of food you take in per day.
Perhaps, this is the main reason why many people, in spite of their promise of dieting, still continue to grow their arms flabby, their bellies bulging and their legs fatty- the culprit, is they didn't mind how their meals were cooked.
Cooking pertains to food preparation.
Apart from the ingredients that may contain too much glucose, too much cholesterol or salt, the process in which it was prepared is highly significant to the effect that it will create on our bodies.
Healthy cooking is one of the best remedies we can do to stay fit and active as we live longer.
However, many people deemed this as hard to do since the very idea of 'cooking' already scares them.
Let's admit, not all people make good kitchen products.
In addition, not all people have the time to prepare food or at least, know a few healthy cooking techniques! The Internet aside from books have served a lot of healthy recipes that offers variety of choices to satisfy that Go-Grow-and-Glow food balance each day.
But how does one really adapt healthy cooking techniques that promote real healthy bodies? Below are some tips on how to cook a healthy recipe: First, cook light.
We all know that there is a little 'chef' in all of us, however, the techniques that we use as we experiment on cooking may just only satisfy our cravings for imbalance ingredients such as too sweet, too fatty, too oily and too salty ingredients in just one dish.
A no, no! Cooking light is healthy cooking.
Stick to basics, the ones that would bring out the richness of the minerals or vitamins that you can get as you simmer it.
Second, choose a meatless dish.
Going vegetarian is not at all bad when you can simmer veggies in olive oil and without meat get extra saucy with tangy tomato juices.
Third, try poaching.
Too much cholesterol when using cooking oil may only increase the fat content on our bodies.
Boiling, steaming, poaching, grilling and a lot more are the other choices of preparing food.
Cooking doesn't just pertain to frying or sautéing, try the alternatives that would avoid the use of oil; or if not, use olive oil as it is healthier.
For instance, instead of cooking eggs in oil, poached eggs may just spare you from too much fat and oil contents.
Poaching is a gentler technique of boiling and yes, it is another way of cooking healthy.
It only requires an item (say an egg) to be submerged in a liquid, such as water or vinegar, until it simmers.
These three healthy cooking suggestions are very useful in jumpstarting your healthy cooking strategies.
These are simple and easy to do, one just needs patience with adapting to the preparation; when done religiously, these three can certainly diminish bad cooking habits and promote a healthy eating lifestyle.
So whatever specific you have in learning how to bake and cook, there are a few culinary arts school in Philippines that offer the certificate courses above-with The Academy for International Culinary Arts (AICA) as one of them.
