Reflections of Jesus

103 29
Have you ever gone into a cave and they turned off all of the lights? I have.
It was so dark I couldn't see my hand in front of my face.
I was afraid to move for fear I would go somewhere I shouldn't be.
Some place I could be hurt or I would hurt other people.
Many of the people around me were starting to panic, even though they knew that the lights would be turned on again soon.
When the lights were off, I just wanted to get back out where I could see the sun again, or the moon if it was night.
Creatures that live in caves on the other hand, don't want the light.
Either it hurts their eyes or they don't have eyes to see the light, so it doesn't make any difference to them.
In the spiritual world, the darkness is our sin and the cave is the world without Christ.
Most of us want to have light so we can go about our activities, but a few of us prefer to stay in the darkness.
These people we tend to think of as being wicked or evil.
Fortunately for most of us, God sent Jesus to Earth to provide us with light.
Jesus Himself is that light.
Like with the sun, it is normally only when we are out of the cave that we can see Him, so God uses those of us who have accepted Christ as our Savior to become reflections of Jesus.
Our job is to reflect Christ's light so that those who are still lost in the cave of sin can find their way out to Him.
Of course, like a mirror, the closer we are to Jesus, the better our reflection of Him.
Unlike sunlight that can only be reflected by line of sight (which is why we have the different stages of the moon); Christ's light is reflected through the Holy Spirit.
God places the Christian in specific places in the "cave" to provide a guide to Jesus.
God uses our unique experiences and skills to craft us into the perfect reflection of Jesus' light that each sinner needs to see.
Then like a light in the cave, God then places us in the exact place and time that the sinner needs to take him or her to the next point of their journey to Christ.
On rare occasions, one guide is all a sinner needs to find Christ.
Most times though, more than one guiding light is needed to show the way, so God positions us with our special light in that perfect place to guide him or her onward to Jesus.
I know for me, I'm not always fond of the circumstances that shape me into the light that I've become.
Many times it is a painful or frightening experience, but I am always happy to see that my experience or skill can and is used to help other people in their walk in life and in Christ.
That knowledge helps to ease the feeling and memories connected to the crafting.
I pray that you too, will become a special light for Christ.
Becoming a reflection of Jesus is one of our primary tasks here on Earth.
Will you become one?
