How to Make Memory Book Binding Tape
- 1). Measure and cut out a piece of fabric that is three inches wide and one inch longer than the spine of your book. Thin cotton fabrics work best.
- 2). Use the ruler to divide the fabric into thirds lengthwise and mark with your pencil. Each division should be one inch wide. Work with the wrong side of the fabric facing up.
- 3). Pull out a piece of double-sided tape as long as your fabric strip. Stick it onto the first third of the fabric.
- 4). Fold the fabric over on top of the tape, sticking it together. The one-inch division will now be half an inch and you will have a clean edge. Repeat for the other edge of the fabric.
- 5). Place a strip of double-sided tape on top of the folded fabric in the first and third divided sections.
- 6). Center the spine on the book binding tape, with a half inch overhanging of the tape hanging over the top and bottom of the book. Push the edges of the tape up onto the cover and back of the book, and press into place.
- 7). Trim the ends of the fabric that overhang the spine, so they are even with the cover.
