How to Make Ornamental Book Covers
- 1). Open your book and lay it flat, face-down.
- 2). Measure the height (vertical) of the book's cover as well as its width (horizontal).
- 3). Cut a piece of craft foam that is 6 inches wider and 2 inches taller than your book cover.
- 4). Fold down the top 2 inches of the foam. Fold up the bottom 2 inches of the foam.
- 5). Fold 6 inches on the left side and the right side of the foam in toward the center to create pockets on either side.
- 6). Glue the 2 inches folded at the top and bottom of the 6 inches folded over to the 2 inches at the top and bottom of the main part of the cover to hold the pockets in place. Let the glue dry completely.
- 7). Slide the left and right edges of the book's cover into the left and right pockets of the cover to put the decorative cover on the book.
- 8). Cut the back pocket from an old pair of jeans around the outside edge of the pocket.
- 9). Adhere the pocket to the front of the cover with craft glue to create a pocket for your pens and pencils.
