How to Make a Twin Bedspread

    • 1). Lay the sheets one on top of the other with right sides facing. You can use any fabric, but sheets come in the perfect size and do not require piecing or cutting. Pin together along the edges. Using a one inch seam allowance, sew around three edges of the sheets, leaving one short side unfinished.

    • 2). Lay down the sheets and lay the batting on top of them. Trim batting if necessary to fit inside the sheets. Flip sheets inside out so that the batting is on the inside of the bed cover and the right sides of the sheet face out.

    • 3). Fold the unfinished edges inside the bed cover about an inch. If necessary, trim any batting that hangs out. Press the fold with a hot iron and pin together with straight pins. Using a 1/4 inch seam allowance, sew the unfinished edge.

    • 4). Lay the bedspread out flat once again and pin the sheets and batting together throughout. Using a washable fabric marker, mark straight lines up and down and sideways in a grid pattern over the bedspread evenly spaced, no more than 6 inches apart. Sew along lines to quilt the bedspread.

    • 5). Trim threads from stitch lines and wash the bedspread to remove fabric marker lines.
