Video: What Are Cutting Strips & Glue for Preschoolers?
Video Transcript
Hi, my name is Patricia and I'm going to show you a fun project using paper strips and gluing for preschoolers. We have scissors and then the paper and glue. I have the squirt bottle of glue and the same glue in a jar whichever you find is easiest. I have them both just in case. First what we're going to do is we're going to cut strips out of paper. They can be about an inch to two inches wide and I'm going to do let's see, I'll probably do about three of these colors just for time constraints. So I'm going to do these first three and what we're going to do is oops, we're going to take these and see how I have paper strips? We're going to take these and we're going to make circles out of them, just like this. We're going to make a chain link project and this is great, I mean you can make it as long as you want to. I've used these around the holidays to decorate trees, whatever you want. You can always color onto the strips or add fun glitter or fun detailing and here with the white glue you do have to hold it for a moment, so when you're working with the preschoolers just say hey, sit there and hold it and see how long they can do that for. Sometimes it's fun to make it a game. Some will listen, some will not. Alright and then next, let's use the squirt bottle. See this doesn't, sometimes they're a little bit, yeah, this one doesn't want to work right now. Let's just use the paintbrush. Sometimes they can be a little bit stubborn so again I'm just going to add a little bit of glue to the end of one of the links, press it together and hold it for a couple minutes and you know, once you've left the last one you can go back and press it a little bit. Alright so we have two links and let's do one more and again it is white glue so you do have to hold it. Alright, let's get a thinner coat on this one, that last one had a thick coat. See here how I have a thin coat? Alright let's try this again, getting glue all over the table. Okay so I'm just going to lay this here while I work with this blue one. Again, put your fingers on it. Then you can go through the next one. Usually you might want to wait a couple of minutes before you do the next link, but I just wanted to give you an idea of how it works. And so here we have a fun link project and you know, the winner is the one with the most links right? There you go, enjoy.
