Mario Matt threw down a great first run then protected his lead with a journeyman effort on his second run to hold off the heavy favorite, 2013 Slalom Champion and reigning Slalom World Champion Marcel Hirscher. The young Norwegian, nineteen year old Henrik Kristoffersen in only his second Olympic race was third.
For the U.S. Team, Nolan Kasper finished in 13th place, David Chodounsky was DNF1 and Ted Ligety, seventh after the first run was DNF2.
