Food for a Flat Stomach
- Fruit is an important part of any healthy diet. Fresh fruit is low in fat and high in vitamins. Still, there are some particular fruits that play an important role in trimming down your stomach. Grapefruit is helpful due to the high content of B-vitamins, necessary for weight-loss. Watermelon is good, too, and it contains just 80 calories per cup. Watermelon has a lot of liquid, which facilitates the elimination of salt and other toxins in the body. Red and purple grapes are another excellent choice. Loaded with antioxidants, grapes give you energy without packing lots of extra calories.
- Abstaining from carbohydrates in favor of certain vegetables is important for getting a flatter mid-section. Avoid potatoes and other starchy vegetables. Choose foods like broccoli, asparagus, and bell peppers. These vegetables are rich in enzymes that assist in digestion and metabolism. Other vegetables to eat include onions, sauerkraut and eggplant. Grill or boil vegetables rather than frying them with oil to keep the calorie-count low.
- Some protein sources are necessary to fuel your muscles with essential amino acids and keep your metabolism pumping. Red meat and cheese are high in fat and calories, but other protein-rich foods are perfect for a waist-slimming diet. Eat egg whites. A single egg white has 4 g of protein and just 17 calories. Nonfat yogurt is also a good choice. Yogurt has protein as well as natural bacteria that help you digest food more efficiently, reducing stomach bloating. Fish is another excellent source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Try tuna and salmon, both low in fat and high in protein.
