How to Design Christian T-Shirts
- 1). Identify your market. Before you put any money into this new venture, make sure people are going to want your finished product. A good place to start is at your church or a local Christian bookstore. You can also check if there are online vendors that might be interested in stocking your shirts in their virtual stores. If you're making the shirt for your own benefit and enrichment, skip this step.
- 2). Choose your T-shirt style. Do you want your shirt to have text on it, or do you prefer a more complicated design? What color will your shirt be? Will you mimic a popular design, or will you look for something completely original? Before you go any further, make sure you have the basics of your design ready. If this is the first shirt you've designed, you'll want to keep it simple. It would probably be best if you placed some simple text and perhaps a not-too-complicated logo on the front of the T-shirt. Bigger designs and designs on both sides of the T-shirt might be too challenging for a beginner.
- 3). Choose your inspirational Christian message. If you have a favorite Bible passage or prayer, you might want to use that as the basis for your shirt. Or you can use a Christian message of your own to make your shirt stand out. Sketch a few ideas to get a feel for what you want your finished product to look like.
- 4). If you lack the talent yourself, find an artist. If your T-shirt contains more than just a little text and you're not artistically inclined, you'll probably want to enlist the services of a local artist to help complete your T-shirt. You might want to ask around at your local church or Bible group. This way you can find an artist who shares your interest in Christianity.
- 5). Build your T-shirt. Place your design on your fabric. A local sporting goods or craft store could manufacture your T-shirts for a charge. If you feel more adventurous, you could silk screen your own T-shirts. If you're not looking to sell the T-shirt and are only making it for your own enjoyment, visit a craft store and purchase some permanent markers of different colors. These markers are easy to work with and the writing won't wash off in the laundry. Make sure you have a few T-shirts to work with just in case you make a mistake.
