Walking through the fitness shoe isle of any store can be an overwhelming experience.
Having an intended purpose and understanding of the shoes that you are going to purchase will help to navigate your way through the masses.
If you are serious about running or just want to start a fitness routine to lose weight, wearing the proper equipment is very important when it comes to performance as well as health.
It may be tempting to purchase a shoe based on name brand and looks, but if the shoe just looks good, and does not provide you with the support and performance you need, you have wasted your money.
Experienced runners will tell you that shoe construction is the most important factor and that the following should be taken into consideration.
First, when buying a new pair of shoe you should examine your old shoes to diagnosis your own walking / running patterns.
If you notice that your old shoes are worn more on the insides, it is a good indication that your current shoes are not providing you with enough support.
When this is the case, look for a more structured shoe that will provide you with the support you need for participating in running or other activities that will help you lose weight.
On the other hand, or rather foot, if your shoes are worn more on the outsides it is indicative that more shock absorption is needed.
A good indicator that the shoes that you currently have are not wide enough is if you can see the outline of your large or small toe.
Next, try on numerous pairs of shoes and give them a try.
Be sure that the shoes you are about to purchase are the absolute best for satisfying your needs.
Don't just settle for something that is OK; make sure that the money you are investing is spent on your perfect shoe.
The more comfortable the shoe is for you, the more likely you will wear them and stick with your new running routine, or plan to lose weight.
Finally, remember it is best to replace your running shoes approximately every six months to ensure that you are maximizing the complete features of the shoe to benefit your performance.
Finding the right shoe is often the first step to completing that first 5K.
