Wild Fig in Glen Cove, NY
If you are up for a wonderful dining experience, head over to Wild Fig, a very good Mediterranean / Greek restaurant located at 167 Glen Street in Glen Cove, NY.
The food is delicious, they have charming décor and the price is right.
For the good service, excellent food and price point, the meal is a real bargain and a good value.
There are also two other Wild Fig locations in New York, one in Garden City and one in Syosset.
The appetizers are a very diverse group.
Four of us shared three appetizers.
Wild Fig serves an excellent hummus salad made up of chickpea and tahini spread served with flatbread.
The flatbread is both white and whole wheat.
We also had a sampler of Phyllo pies, one each of feta, beef and spinach feta, all served with a tasty yogurt sauce which was very good.
We tried a new dish called grilled calamari which was two skewers of grilled tender calamari rings with tangy tomato sauce on the side.
For the less hungry, there is a nice variety of salads, served as either a small / medium side salad or a full meal salad size.
These include Mediterranean salad, pomegranate salad, Greek salad, Arugula salad, white bean salad and Shepherds Salad.
The entrees are also a nice variety.
The kebabs were very tasty as were the seafood entrees which we had.
Spinach and feta flounder, sole with crab meet stuffing, baked shrimp and baked tilapia were all very good.
The entrée sizes were very large and two of us asked for a doggie bag.
Desserts were tasty as well.
We ordered two desserts between the four of us.
The walnut Baklava and Cheese cake with figs passed the test! Wild Fig is a great value at a reasonable price.
I highly recommend it.
