How to Keep Slipcovers on My Couch
- 1). Follow the installation instructions that came with the ready-made slipcover and put it on the sofa. Smooth the cover as much as possible.
- 2). Cut four pieces of twill tape each 24 inches long. Fold each piece of tape in half, lengthwise and crease the fold. Attach a safety pin at the crease. Lift the corner of the slipcover just enough to expose the top of the sofa leg. Use the safety pin to attach the twill tape to the inside of the slipcover at the very corner of the couch, just above the sofa leg. Wind each end of the twill tape around the leg, from the pin at the front to the back of the leg. Tie the two ends together behind the leg. Tie the tape securely, leaving at least an inch of slack.
- 3). Push the ruler into the space between the inside back and seat where they meet at the seat. Check this measurement on the ruler. Measure the width of the tuck-in area from side to side along the seat of the couch. Note these two measurements. Measuring the tuck-in area where the inside arms and seats meet.

Use water pipe foam covers 2 inches in diameter or smaller, if the tuck-in space is less than 5 inches. If the space is larger than 5 inches, use the foam noodles. Cut the covers or noodles to the width of the tuck-in area less 10 inches, center the foam over the area and push the foam into the tuck-in area. Repeat for the sides of the seat, cutting the foam 5 inches less than the width required.
