How to Make a Candy Wrapper Necklace

104 206

    Folding the Candy Wrappers

    • 1). Unfold the candy wrapper and press out the creases before folding the candy wrapper in half lengthwise. Crease along the newly created fold and then tear along the crease to form two halves.

    • 2). Take one of the halves and fold it in half lengthwise. Fold it in half, lengthwise, a second time. Press the folds firmly to crease.

    • 3). Bring the two long ends together and fold in half with a firm crease to form a large skinny "V". Open the fold.

    • 4). Fold each end of the candy wrapper to the center fold and crease. Fold and re-crease at the center fold to form a small "v". Press firmly on the edges. When looking at the small "v," two arms are present that can open to link the candy wrappers together.

    • 5). Repeat the process with 30 to 40 candy wrappers depending on the length of the necklace.

    Linking the Candy Wrappers

    • 1). Open the folded side of the arms of the small "v" just enough to slide the arms of the next piece through to link the two pieces. Make sure the folded side of the arm is facing down to allow for easy insertion of the next piece. Slide the bottom of the second "v" tightly to the top of the arms on the first "v".

    • 2). Open the folded side of the arms on the "v" shape that was just inserted into the chain. Place the next folded candy wrapper's arms through the openings, making sure to place the folded edge to the bottom. The "v's" alternate in direction as they are placed in the chain and take on the appearance of a zigzag line.

    • 3). Slide the bottom of the "v" snugly into place at the folds of the top of the "v" where it was inserted. Continue this linking process until the desired number of candy wrappers are used.

    • 4). Slip the last link of the folded gum wrapper chain into the first link when the chain is long enough to make a necklace. Place a piece of cellophane tape over the end to keep it in place.
