How to Recycle Cans in Cocoa, Florida
- 1). Find a place to store the cans. Some people place a different color garbage can next to the wastebasket in the kitchen to help everyone identify the right container for cans.
- 2). Rinse food cans before throwing them in the recycling receptacle to cut down on the odors.
- 3). Deposit the cans in the recycling bin outdoors when the recycling receptacle is full, or before the recycling pickup. If you use plastic bags in your recycling container, remove the bag after you put the contents into the recycling bin. The city of Cocoa does not recycle plastic bags.
- 1). Find a safe place to store your empty or unused cans of paint, insecticides or other hazardous waste cans. Tighten the lids or tops on the containers so that they do not emit fumes.
- 2). Place your cans in a box and put them in the trunk or back of the vehicle. Brevard County requests that you leave the labels on the containers to help them process the contents properly.
- 3). Bring the containers to the Central Disposal Facility at 2250 Adamson Rd. in Cocoa between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Monday through Saturday. The facility closes for major holidays.
