Children"s Panic Attacks Hit Home
But the demands of being a child in today's world are not to be underestimated.
We, as internet-literate adults can try and dismiss the stress of childhood, but we do so at our own peril.
After all, are we not just grown up kids? And if that is true, then why can't children panic attacks occur just as often as panic attacks in adults? The truth is, children panic attacks do happen, and for much the same reason that adult panic attacks happen.
The causes are the same, the diagnosis can be undertaken with the same analysis, and yet there is also the same hope for recovery and treatment that is available to adult sufferers.
As mentioned before, children and adults are very much the same creatures.
Stress is stress, be it from a boss or co-worker, or from someone trying to steal your crayons during arts and crafts time.
The important thing to do is recognize when a child is being stressed.
Watch their little faces.
Very often a downward movement of the mouth and a moistening of the eyes is a clear indication of a child under stress.
The next thing an astute teacher or parent will notice is how the child reacts emotionally.
A panicked child will withdraw into an intellectually barren fantasy land.
As with adults, the cure for children panic attacks is a fairly simple one.
Learn to recognize what makes a child stressed, and then remove that from the child's environment.
With perseverance and proper technique, an anxious, despondent child can be easily made happy again, and allowed to blossom into a productive, well-balanced adult.
