How to Put DVDs on My iPod Using iTunes
- 1). Download and install the Handbrake application, which is available for free from the Handbrake website (see Resource section below).
- 2). Open the Handbrake application and insert a DVD into your computer's disc drive. A pop-up window will appear asking you to select a video source.
- 3). Highlight the DVD movie in the pop-up window and then press "Open" to select it as the video source.
- 4). Open the "Format" drop-down menu and select "MP4." MP4 is a video file format that can be played in iTunes and on iPods.
- 5). Click on the "Start" button at the top of the window to begin converting the DVD movie into an MP4 file. Depending on the length of the movie, the ripping process could take up to two hours to complete.
- 6). Launch the iTunes program on your Mac or PC computer.
- 7). Go to "File" in the top menu bar and select the "Add to Library" option.
- 8). Highlight the MP4 file you just created and press "Choose" to import the movie into your iTunes library.
- 9). Connect your iPod Classic, Touch or Nano to your computer using an iPod USB transfer cable. The iTunes program will begin syncing with the iPod, and the MP4 video file will be transferred to your device's hard drive.
