    Contrasting Prints

    • Play up the difference between purple and green by painting the walls or choosing fabrics that use these colors in vibrant, contrasting prints. For example, paint a wall in green and purple stripes or polka dots for a bold and eye-catching feature wall. When choosing bedding, select one color as the base and the other as an accent. A solid green duvet cover will be enhanced by the addition of pillows in shades of purple or even stuffed animals. Floor rugs, curtains, lamps and even furniture are other ways to showcase these contrasting colors in solids or prints.

    DInosaur Theme

    • Many children are fascinated by dinosaurs. For boys and girls, these large lizards can be integrated into a purple and green color scheme. For example, paint a wall with a large green tyrannosaurus rex or a purple pterodactyl. Instead of a wall mural, look for bed sheets or curtains that depict these creatures in shades of purple and green. Tie-dying to integrate these colors into linens is a way that is graphic, but will also work well with the dinosaur theme. For example, this tie-dye effect can be the base for dinosaur stamps.

    Rainforest Theme

    • Purple and green are also colors commonly found in the rain forest. Drive home this color scheme by painting the walls a vibrant, leafy green. Paint trees in shades of brown and yellow, and then add big purple blooms to flowers on the painted plants. Use stencils to add detailing if you are not comfortable with your own freehand abilities. Accessorize with artificial green leaves and vines hung from the walls and ceiling. Add stuffed animals, such as monkeys or sloths, from the vines to give the room a three-dimensional animal habitat feel.

    Soft Palette

    • A purple and green color palette does not have to be hard or overwhelming. In fact, it can look quite muted and reserved. Because children's tastes tend to change quickly, a softer color scheme will be a strong base for their room to transition over time. For example, choose shades of purple and green for paint, linens and accessories in soft pastel tones. A combination of sage green and lavender is delicate and sophisticated. For a boy's room, shades of hunter green and plum are rich and saturated, and is mature enough to grow with them in the space.
