How to Propagate Angel Trumpets
- 1). Fill a pot with a potting mixture of coarse, clean sand and peat moss. Any container will work as long as it has at least one drainage hole in the bottom. Dampen the potting mixture with a spray bottle.
- 2). Use pruners to cut a branched stem from a healthy angel trumpet plant. The stem should be 4 to 6 inches long.
- 3). Place the container in indirect, bright light. Keep the soil slightly damp. The soil should never be allowed to dry out, nor should it be watered so much that it becomes soggy.
- 4). Watch for the stem to develop new growth, which indicates that the plant has successfully taken root, then place the pot outdoors in a shady spot until the following spring. Alternatively, plant the angel trumpet temporarily in a shady spot, as the plant can be moved to a permanent location in spring. Water the angel trumpet regularly and keep the soil slightly moist at all times.
- 5). Plant the angel trumpet where the plant will be exposed to morning sunlight but shaded during the heat of the afternoon. Angel trumpet does best in well-drained soil.
