    Computer Connection

    • Although Pandigital Novel is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X operating systems, you'll experience computer connection problems if the USB port you're connecting the device to isn't responding. Restarting your computer usually solves USB connection problems. If you're connecting the device using a USB hub, connect it directly to a USB port on the computer because some USB hubs can't power the device. In some cases, computer problems are caused by a damaged or faulty USB cable. If the cable shows signs of wear and tear, use a different cable to improve connection. When the computer establishes a connection with the e-reader, its hard disk is displayed in Windows Explorer or the desktop if you're using a Mac.

    Wi-Fi Connection

    • If Pandigital Novel can't connect to the Internet, verify the Wi-Fi button on top of the device is turned on. If you were already connected to a wireless network and suddenly lost connection, verify you're within range of the wireless access point. If you configured your network settings manually, check the Wi-Fi settings on the e-reader and verify the correct information, such as security password, is entered. If the wireless router isn't connecting to the Internet, pressing the "Reset" button can restore network connectivity. If the problem persists, the issue is most likely on your Internet Service Provider's end, so contact your provider.

    Resetting

    • If the Pandigital Novel e-reader can't connect to the computer or a wireless network, the device's operating system is probably experiencing technical difficulty. Press and hold the "Power" button for at least 10 seconds to reboot the operating system. Resetting the device reboots the operating system without deleting saved content.

    Tips

    • If the Pandigital Novel's battery is severely low, connecting it to the computer to perform tasks such as updating firmware won't work, so Pandigital recommends charging the e-reader with a power adapter for at least four hours. In addition, currently, updating firmware can only be performed with a Windows operating system. If the computer or Wi-Fi connection problems persist, the problem could be with the operating system or hardware, so contact Pandigital for addition support.
