How to Replace Bricks Around Flower Beds

104 198
    • 1). Remove the damaged or cracked brick. Normally bricks around flower beds are not put together with mortar. If it is, chip off the old mortar from the bricks on either side of the one you removed. If you are going to keep the brick you remove, then chip the mortar off of it as well.

    • 2). Turn the brick around if it is just cracked. This will hide the crack and keep you from having to purchase new material. Place the brick back in its original space and press the dirt from the plant bed back up against the side of the brick wall.

    • 3). Take the brick with you to a home improvement store, landscape material supplier or other location where they sell brick. Use the old brick to find a new one that matches the color and style of the old. If the bricks have been around the flower bed for a long time, they might have faded, or they might not make the particular color or style anymore. If this is the case you will need to find a brick that is as close a match as you can or replace all of the bricks.

    • 4). Push the dirt back from the brick so you can set the new brick in place. If it sits too low in the ground, put a little sand underneath to raise it up. The sand can also help keep moisture from being pulled into the brick from the ground.
