Christianity seems to be an al a carte religion in that the followers pick and choose what they want to believe and how they act.
They claim to uphold certain values and beliefs but they don't practice them.
Many claim to be religious but only attend church on Easter Sunday.
There exists a real disconnect between word and deed and it can be seen every day.
Plus I have to ask why if the message is so clear, how come are there so many sects? Can you tell me because I just don't understand? Most Christians are on automatic pilot when it comes to religion.
They acquired their beliefs from their parents forcing them to attend Sunday school as a child and then reinforcing them at home.
That's what happened to me.
My mother had me in church every Sunday whether I liked it or not (I didn't).
Like most others, I automatically claimed to be a Christian even after I grew up and quit attending church.
I never really gave it much thought and just went on with my life.
Most Christians are like this.
You see examples of this every day.
The hooker wearing a cross on her necklace to the married businessman who sexually harasses an employee.
The greedy that defraud their customers and then resent the less fortunate who need help.
The CEO who gets a huge bonus after laying off workers.
Yet, they can reconcile these acts to their Christian beliefs without any guilt.
These are small compared to judgments made on their fellow man.
Those who are taught not to judge are the biggest hypocrites of all.
And the most numerous.
Many judge to the point of being mean and hateful...
just listen to the politicians, especially the Republicans.
And these hypocrites will get heated and even violent against anyone who, using science, logic and reason, questions any of their religious beliefs.
I half get this but why don't these people sometimes question the reasonableness of their faith? Don't they have analytical minds? They sure seem to when they are trying to cheat someone.
Yet they believe in Noah's Ark and creationism.
You see a lot of churches with their reader-board signs with all of the cute phrases trying to entice the ignorant passer- by.
They all seem to have them now which I find irritating.
If a group of atheists erected a meeting hall and called it "Atheist Discussion Center" with a sign that said "Come hear logic and reason.
" The Christians would be outraged.
They would try every tactic possible to get it closed including arson and bombing.
Why are they so afraid of the sunshine? I personally don't care what you believe as long as you keep it to yourself.
Keep religion out of government and in your homes and churches where it belongs.
And quit trying to tell me how moral and ethical you are because you are not either one...
drop the arrogance and open your mind.
Quit labeling atheists as evil because most of us are not and in many cases, we are more honest, moral and ethical than you Christians.
I have to vent on this while I still can as you Christians really scare me--even more than the Muslims.
Many of you would turn America into a theocracy if given the chance.
We could return to the Dark Ages where those who questioned the religious dogma were executed.
