How to Use an Outside Shower

104 7
    • 1). Put on sandals, flip-flops or other rubber-soled footwear to protect your feet from debris and possible uneven surfaces in an outdoor shower area. You may also wish to wear undergarments if the shower does not have privacy screening.

    • 2). Turn the shower water flow to its on position. For a camp shower this may mean simply loosening a clamp. A turn of the knob starts the overhead water flow in a more permanently-constructed outdoor shower.

    • 3). Move your body from side to side, lifting your arms and legs and bending forward and back. Run your hands over your trunk and limbs to make sure every part of the body is wet.

    • 4). Turn the shower off. This action conserves water and is particularly important for a camp shower with a limited water supply to ensure sufficient water remains available for rinsing.

    • 5). Lather your body with biodegradable soap. Use a scrub brush, if available, for hard to reach places. Lather your hair, also with biodegradable soap or shampoo.

    • 6). Turn the water back on and allow the water to flow over your entire body. Use your hands and the scrub brush to quickly rinse away the soap, shampoo and residue, then turn the water off again.

    • 7). Dry your body and hair with the bath towel. Once that is completed, use the towel to wipe away excess water from the outdoor shower fixtures and enclosure, leaving it clean for the next person.
