How to Draw Guitars Step-by-Step

    Drawing Guitars

    • 1). Draw one larger circle with a smaller circle (2/3 the size of the first) on top. This is the rough basis for the body of your guitar.

    • 2). Draw a vertical line with your straight-edge from the bottom center of the larger circle, up and through the smaller circle and continuing out from the top of the smaller circle. This vertical line should cut your circles into two equal halves. It also should extend beyond the body of your guitar (the two circles) a length that is equal to the body of the guitar. This extension will be the neck of your guitar.

    • 3). Draw two horizontal lines at the center of each circle intersecting your first vertical line. The one in the bottom circle will be your guitar's bridge. The one in the small circle will define your guitar's sound hole.

    • 4). Draw a small rectangle on the top end of your vertical line. This is going to be the head of your guitar (where the tuning keys go).

    • 5). Take your straight-edge and place it along your vertical line. Your are now going to draw the strings. Draw three straight lines on the bottom of your vertical line and three on top, creating a six-string guitar. These lines should run from the guitar's bridge (horizontal line in larger circle) up into the guitar's head (rectangle on top of the neck).

    • 6). Connect the two circles by tracing a line around their edges. At the two segments where the circles meet, allow for a slight contour to give the guitar its characteristic curves.

    • 7). Define your bridge. Draw a rectangle around the horizontal line in the large circle in such a way that it looks like the strings are attaching to it.

    • 8). Draw a circle within your first small circle. It should center on the intersection of the vertical and horizontal line. This will be your guitar's sound hole.

    • 9). Draw six circles on your guitar's head, three on one side and three on the other. These are your string connectors. Also, draw a small rectangle on the side of each circle, outside the guitar head. These are your tuning keys. While touching up your drawing, make sure that each string ends at its corresponding connector.

Darken the lines to your liking. The shape and body of the guitar is complete.
