How to Make a Vertical Comic Template in Photoshop

104 14
    • 1). Open Photoshop. Press "Control" and "N" to open the "New Canvas" window. Enter the dimensions you want for your comic template. Because the template is going to be vertical the height should be larger than the width. Leave the rest of the settings at default and click "OK."

    • 2). Select the "Rectangular Marquee" tool. Click and drag the tool around the edges of your canvas so that you have a vertical rectangle. Click "Edit," then "Stroke." Change the pixel width to "5," then click "OK." A black line will appear where the Marquee rectangle is located. Press "Ctrl" and "D" to deselect the rectangle.

    • 3). Select the "Pen" tool. Draw a line inside the rectangle width-wise that connects its edges. Right-click on the canvas and choose "Stroke Path." A dark line will appear where the path created with the pen tool is located. Right-click on the canvas again and choose "Delete Path"; this will delete the path leaving only the dark line. You now have one panel inside the vertical rectangle. Repeat this step as many times as is necessary to create the number of panels you want inside the rectangle.

    • 4). Select the "Text" tool. Draw a rectangle with the tool over the comic template. Type the name of your comic. You can change the font face, color and size using the menus located on the top left side of the screen.

    • 5). Select the "Pencil" tool. Write your signature using this tool somewhere on the outer-edge of the template.

    • 6). Click "File," then "Save as." Choose a location on your computer and a file type such as JPEG. Click "Save." An options box will appear asking you to choose image quality and compression. Increase the quality to its highest possible setting and leave the compression at default, then press "Enter."

    • 7). Close Photoshop.
