How to Plant a Tree in India

    • 1). Obtain the correct seeds by reading about what type of trees grow best in India. Some species won't survive in the heat, so it's important to try and plant native, hearty trees that will grow and thrive.

    • 2). Wait until either January or February. Alternately, plant your seeds at the onset of monsoon season. The storms provide adequate moisture and help the seeds to sprout and survive.

    • 3). Choose a spot for your tree to grow. Planting it near the south or southwest side of a building is a good idea because it will provide a measure of shade for it in the hottest months of the year.

    • 4). Place the seeds 4 meters from each other for medium trees and 8 meters from each other for large growing trees. All trees should be planted at least 5 meters away from buildings and foundations.

    • 5). Turn the soil with your shovel and mix in a cup of compost. Plant your seed, cover it with soil, and water it. If it's monsoon season, you don't have to water your seed when the soil stays wet from rain.

    • 6). Add water to your tree and manure after monsoon season ends. Continue watering it and caring for it for at least the first year.
