How to Make a Blanket for a Girl's Crib
- 1). Wash and iron the fabric before beginning construction. If you purchased one large sheet of fabric, cut it into 1 ½-yards each. If there is a pattern on the fabric, face the finished sides of the fabric toward one another on a flat surface. Pin three of the sides together with the sewing pins, leaving about ½ inch from the edge to where you pin.
- 2). Sew three and a half edges of the blanket with the sewing machine. If you don't have a sewing machine you can sew the edges by hand; it may just take you longer to finish. Be sure not to sew all four sides of the blanket because you have to turn the blanket right side out.
- 3). Insert your arm in the half of the blanket side that you didn't sew shut and turn the blanket right side out. To sew the remaining half side of the blanket, thread a needle. Tuck the two edges of the blanket toward the inside of the blanket to match the portion of the blanket that's already sewn. Take the needle and in the crack of the two sides, feed it through one side of the blanket and then the other. Repeat this until the two sides are completely sewn together.
