Everyone knows Bruce Lee as the Martial Arts guru of the 1960s. During that time, he developed and trained in many different forms of the martial arts. Today, there are two main variations of JeetKune Do: Original and Concepts.

JeetKune Do is a defensive strategy in which the student prepares to deal with an attack from an opponent head on. The main strategies behind it are a combination of Wing Chun moves and general boxing and fencing tactics, mixed with some kicks originated by Mr. Lee himself. Therefore, students are encouraged to sometimes take on the martial art of Wing Chun as a precursor to JeetKune Do.

The main principles surrounding JeetKune Do are directness, simplicity, and the form of no form. Directness is all about getting to the opponent quickly and safely and using your lead hand or leg to cause the most damage possible to the opponent. Simplicity regards necessity and efficiency of completing a task. This is where many of the basic moves come in to play. The form of no form, or non-classical, calls into play all of the other techniques of traditional martial arts.

These principles are to prepare the physical body and mind to be combat ready at all times. A student in the martial art of JeetKune Do is encouraged to experience the process of self-discovery in a way they never have before. There is no set way of accomplishing this task; JeetKune Do is simply a way to help you find your true self. JeetKune Do is meant to be modified to fit each individual person experiencing it.

JeetKune Do emphasizes the importance of mobility as a form of combat. The three main fighting ranges most important to JeetKune Do are long, medium, and close range. When you want to learn Jeet Kune Do, you need to understand what each range entails. Long range is about fighting from a safe zone in which you can attack without too much fear of being hit by your opponent. In the medium range, you're kicks and punches are most important. Once in the medium range, you're in full-on combat. At close range, you're in the deadliest zone, and every part of your mind and body needs to be in fight mode and on the attack. Blocking is also very important in JeetKune Do and will be taught very thoroughly. If you want to learn Jeet Kune Do, you can do that watching videos of an expert.
