How to Fish With Rubber Frog Lures

    • 1). Attach a 20 to 30-pound test line to a pole that is six to eight feet long. The rod should also contain a light tip that will ensure the frog bait moves lightly and mimics a real frog's movement. Add some weight to the line if the area you are fishing is full of growth and may prevent the fish from detecting the bait on the water's surface.

    • 2). Attach the rubber frog to the hook. Do not allow the hook to penetrate the entirety of the frog.

    • 3). Cast the frog bait in an area that is full of sparse patches of grass, lily pads or anywhere there is a large accumulation of debris, such as fallen sticks. The bait should be cast with force so that it slaps the water. This will simulate the frog jumping from a pad.

    • 4). Hold the tip of the fishing rod down and leave a little slack. If the line is too taut, the bait will be pulled from the fish's mouth when hooked.

    • 5). Wait two to three seconds to lift the hook after a fish has clamped down on the frog. If you pull up on the rod too quickly, you will lose the fish and potentially the bait.

    • 6). Reel in the fish and remove it from the bait.
