How to Make a Hook Harness
- 1). Decide what type of hook and which beads you will use. Choose between a nylon coated wire or monofilament. If you choose to use a monofilament for your fishing line, it is advisable to use only the lightest line. The lightweight material will be the most practical for a wide range of fishing conditions.
- 2). Cut your fishing line at least 1 foot longer than the completed rig. Attach your preferred type of hook to the line.
- 3). Insert the beads into the line. Make sure to choose brightly colored beads which fish are most attracted to.
- 4). Insert the spinner blade into the holes of a folded clevis. Secure the crane swivel. You can also choose to hold it to the line by tying a loop knot.
- 1). Cut your fishing line at least 1 foot longer than the completed rig. Push one end of the line through the eye of the hook. Make sure you insert the end just beyond the barb.
- 2). Hold the line tight to begin tying at least 6 to 8 coils around the shaft of the hook. Ensure coils are tightly wrapped, leaving the tag end.
- 3). Move your fingers to keep the coils secure. Pass the tag end of the leader through the eye of the hook. This movement should be away from the point of hook. Pull the end until you feel and see the coils fit snugly.
- 4). Clip the tag end at the back of the hook. Insert another hook and onto the leader. Hold it in place once you get the right position. Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for harnessing the second hook.
