    How to Make Pirate Decorations

    • 1). Draw a Jolly Roger onto a large piece of cardboard, and cut it out to make a template. Place the template on as many black pieces of cloth as you have, and use white spray paint to paint the Jolly Roger onto the black cloth. After the paint has dried, cut one side of each ragged. You can add a couple of holes for a well-worn look if you want. Wrap the other side of the flag around a stick, and glue it to fit. Repeat this procedure until all of your flags have been made, then place them strategically around the pirate party room.

    • 2). Make a treasure chest. If you don't have a wooden crate or chest handy, a cardboard box painted to look like one will do. Fill the chest with pillows or blankets until you only have a little space left. Buy cheap dollar store toy jewelry or trinkets and spread all of it out on top of the pillows, making sure none of the pillows show. Drape some of the toy jewelry over the edge to give the treasure chest an authentic look.

    • 3). Use bricks or brick-size blocks of wood for bars of gold. Spray paint the brick or wood blocks with gold spray paint, and place them around the pirate party room in small stacks. The more you have, the better the effect will be.

    • 4). Draw and cut swords from pieces of cardboard. Paint the blades with silver spray paint and the handles black. Hang some of the swords on the wall, and make sure to set aside one for each party guest.

    • 5). Cut pieces of black cloth to fit over the eye. Punch a tiny hole into the two upper corners of the eye patch, and slip black string or yarn through the holes for a tie. No pirate decorative theme is complete without these.

    • 6). If you're making pirate decorations for a birthday party, don't forget to add a cake smothered in black icing with the Jolly Roger on top in white candy pieces.
