How to Remove Flower Decals from Bathtubs

104 5

    Vinegar and Water

    • 1). Peel back the decal. If they easily peel off, continue to peel them off. If they don't, continue to step two.

    • 2). Fill the bathtub with an inch of very hot bath water and a cup of white vinegar. Let the vinegar and hot water soak until the water has become cool enough for you to place your hand in.

    • 3). Try to peel back the decals while the water mixture is still in the tub. Remove them if they peel off. Find something plastic with a hard edge, such as a plastic scraper, old credit card or silicon spatula if they do not peel off. Place the plastic tool under the decal, and use it to lift and pry the decal off. Drain the bathtub once all of the decals are removed.

    • 4). Clean any remaining decal residue. Soak a paper towel with vinegar. Rub the paper towel on the decal residue until it is gone. If the residue still won't come off, rub mayonnaise or petroleum jelly into the residue. Allow either to sit for one to two hours. Use a hot cloth to wipe the mixture and remaining residue off.

    Blow Dryer

    • 1). Turn on the blow dryer to the hottest setting it has. Blow the hot air as close to the edge of the decal as possible, without touching the bathtub or decal.

    • 2). Lift the edges as the heat loosens the decal. Point the dryer under those lifting edges. Continue lifting and blowing until the decal is removed.

    • 3). Clean any remaining decal residue using vinegar, mayonnaise or petroleum jelly as described in the first section.
