How to Sand Epoxy Floors Using a Respirator to Protect You From the Fumes
- 1). Wash the epoxy floor with dish soap, using mop. Rinse the floor and wait two to four hours for the floor to dry.
- 2). Use a pry bar to remove baseboards. Skip this step if you are working on a basement or garage floor.
- 3). Stock the respirator with acid-grade filters. Put the respirator on before sanding.
- 4). Promote adhesion by abrading the clean epoxy floor with 120-grit sandpaper, using the power sander. Keep sanding until the epoxy feels slightly coarse.
- 5). Do not remove the respirator. Wipe dust from the epoxy floor with tack cloths.
- 6). Apply a two-part epoxy or floor paint to the abraded floor. Leave the respirator on during the application process.
