Three Tips for Getting Your Photo Wedding Invitations Right

101 34
Although wedding invitations may seem like a small thing - in the grand scheme of your wedding preparations - they actually play a very important part for all of those people who are hoping to be a guest on your big day. So, what are some of the things that you should know about when it comes to the wedding invitations that you are going to be sending out?

Wedding Invitations tip 1: The list

There are few things worse than expecting to be sent an invitation, and not receiving anything. This, of course, can happen quite easily when too many people are trying to organize the wedding, and nobody takes the time to sit down and actually write out the names; so start doing this at least six months before they are due to go out.

You are going to have to have a list of the people who will be at the wedding, so that you can arrange tables, know the numbers of people who will be eating, etc; so this is something that is going to be near the top of your to-do list. The bride and groom should both find some time to make a list of the people who they want to be at the wedding, who they think should be there, and then (together) decide how many of the people on the list they can realistically ask, and send the wedding invitations out accordingly.

Wedding Invitations tip 2:  Your budget

As with everything, you have to have a budget set aside for the amount of money that you can afford to spend on your wedding invitations. Most people have no idea of just how elaborate invitations can get, and that quickly eats into their budget. For instance: you can have different kinds of paper, you can include emblems, you can use a vast array of fonts, you can choose different colors, and the list goes on.

Also, as part of your budget, you should allow for having a few additional wedding invitations printed. There is a chance that no matter how well you think you have followed the first tip, you may have missed someone. So, if you have some extra invitations printed you can quickly remedy the situation.

The design of your wedding invitations can be as unique as you are, so remember to set a budget, or the guest may be eating there meal from a local pizza restaurant.

Wedding Invitations tip 3: What to say in the invitation

It is very easy to put more in your invitation than is really necessary. Essentially the invitation should include:

The hosts - this is usually the parents of the bride.

The request - this will be requesting the honour of the presence of the recipient of the invitation.

The names of the happy couple - brides name first (first and middle names) and the title and full name of the groom.

The date and time of the wedding - this should be written out in full i.e. Saturday, the Eleventh of June, two thousand and twelve, at three o'clock in the afternoon.

The location - write the name out in full, and, if you think it may be needed, you could include a small map.

The time of the reception - if the reception is being held at a different location then include the details of that location with the wedding invitation.

The RSVP - this is essential so that you know how many people will be attending, and it also helps you keep track of people you have sent wedding invitations to.

Other information - this can be a useful way of telling the guests what they are being expected to wear, if there are going to be children there, etc.

Of course, that is not a definitive list of the things that you need to know about wedding invitations, but it will be enough to make sure that you can afford to send them, they go to everyone that you want to be at the wedding, and they know where and when to be there - is there much more than that, that you need to know about wedding invitations?
