103 46
There's no right and wrong when it comes to choosing the first dance song for your wedding.
The first dance should, as a rule, accommodate the song you want to dance to.
The first dance is a highlight of your wedding and also a very personal moment.
That is why choosing the song is a matter of personal taste.
The following five points are just a few tips to make choosing the song for your wedding first dance quick and easy and, above all, fun.
1.
A long song may be tiring for both you and your guests.
For example, 'All I Want is You' by U2 is more than 7 minutes long.
There's no problem dancing to short songs as very few are shorter than 2 minutes.
The ideal length for a first dance song is around 3 minutes and there are plenty to choose from.
2.
Being a popular first dance song does not mean its lyrics are always fitting to the wedding occasion.
Many songs were not written with one's wedding in mind.
For example, 'Angels' by Robbie Williams is a favourite first song for many wedding couples, but if you read its lyrics you will come across a passage, 'And I feel that love is dead, I'm loving angels instead.
' The lyrics are not really suitable for a wedding ceremony.
3.
Very slow first songs are usually tricky to dance to.
A fast song may confuse the movement.
By going for a song not too slow or too fast it would make it easier to learn and practice the steps and also more enjoyable to dance.
4.
Considering more than one song for your wedding first dance would give you more chances to get to choose the perfect first song.
It could be any number of potential songs.
Usually, most wedding couples end up with an average of two potential first dance songs.
It is also worth considering songs performed by more than one artist or band.
'How Deep is Your Love' is by Bee Gees, but it has also been performed by Take That.
5.
It is always helpful to ask other people about potential wedding dance songs.
A dance teacher would likely suggest a song that is easy to dance to, a DJ some popular chart hits song.
A friend may suggest songs they know you like.
You consider all options and then decide what song the two of you really want as your wedding first dance song.
Finding a special song for your wedding first dance ought to be fun and enjoyable.
The more fun it is the more you will enjoy dancing with ease and confidence on your big day.
What's more, everyone will be on their feet and the atmosphere on the wedding day will be just amazing.
