How to Do Exterior Waterproofing
- 1). Locate the edge where a window or door meets the siding on your house. Notice the sealant that is already there. It may be cracked or worn. Remove old sealant with a putty knife. Be careful not to damage the siding.
- 2). Apply a small bead of silicone caulking to the joint where the door or window meets the siding.
- 3). Smooth out the bead of caulk using your index finger and let dry for 24 hours..
- 4). Paint the caulking to match the existing color of your house.
- 1). Locate the edge where a vent or metal flashing meets your roof. Notice the sealant that is already there. It may be cracked or worn. It is not necessary to remove this sealant unless there is an excessive amount or it easily pulls off.

Apply a generous bead of Black Jack to the joint where the vent or flashing meets your roof. - 3). Smooth out the bead of Black Jack using your finger. Cover any cracks or crevices.
