How to Hook Up Three Hard Drives to a Computer
- 1). Shut down the computer and unplug the USB hub and hard drives from the electrical outlet.
- 2). Connect a USB cable from the port on the edge of each external hard drive to one of the numbered ports on the USB hub. The numbered ports help the user distinguish one hard drive from the others.
- 3). Insert the plug on one end of a USB cable into the input/output port on the USB hub, and then connect the other end to any available USB port on the computer or laptop.
- 4). Plug in the power cords for the hard drive and USB hub, and then turn on the computer. It will recognize the connected hardware and display an onscreen message that it is ready to communicate with the hard drives.
