    • 1). Visit an electronics/computer store or search online to purchase a 5GHz wireless adapter, such as the Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter listed in Resources.

    • 2). Go to the Start menu, click in the search box, type "devmgmt.msc" and hit "Enter." Double-click on "Network adapters," right-click on your currently installed wireless adapter, select "Disable" and click "Yes." Your old wireless adapter will now be disabled.

    • 3). Insert the new adapter's installation disk into your CD/DVD drive if it came with one. Otherwise, simply insert the new adapter into a free USB port. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your upgrade to the 5GHz Wireless-N adapter.
