How to Reformat the External Hard Drive in Linux
- 1). Plug the external hard drive into the Linux computer. Power on the drive if it requires external power.
- 2). Open the GParted utility. If your distribution does not come with GParted pre-installed, open the software management utility and search for GParted to install it.
- 3). Select the external hard drive.
- 4). Right-click the drive to format the existing partition. If the drive is empty, a new partition needs to be created.
- 5). Close the GParted utility after it has finished.
