Your wedding anniversary is a major relationship milestone. Whether you are planning a party to celebrate with friends and family or have a quiet romantic evening for two on the agenda, the meal is an excellent way to have foods that bring back memories and showcase your style as a couple. - Bring back nostalgia with menu items that you both as a couple have enjoyed together over the years. Think back to a memorable meal you had early on as a couple. Chose menu items you enjoy cooking as a couple and share those favorites with your party guests. If you have a favorite restaurant that you like to eat at often, call the restaurant to see if it offers catering. If so, hire the chef to cater the anniversary party so you can have all your favorite foods on the menu.
- Plan a menu that encompasses your heritage. If you both have the same background, go with menu items you enjoy the most. For example, if you both have a German background, plan the menu to include pork, varieties of bread, fried potato pancakes and fried potatoes with onion and bacon. If you have mixed backgrounds, create dishes you and your partner love by incorporating both food styles. If you created new dishes over your years together as a couple, include those items on the menu as well.
- Re-create your wedding reception meal. Think back to your wedding day and the menu items served at your reception. Plan your anniversary party menu around those foods. If you are having a tough time remembering, get out your wedding photos and look back at that special day. Ask friends or family members what they remember from your special day. If you had your reception catered, call the catering company and request that it cater your anniversary party. Some companies keep excellent records, and, depending on how long it is since your wedding day, the company may even have your menu items on file.
