How to Clean a Shower With Vinegar
- 1). Turn on the shower so that hot water runs out. Let it run for five minutes and then turn it off.
- 2). Fill a bucket and a spray bottle with undiluted white vinegar.
- 3). Unscrew the showerhead. Place it in the bucket and set the bucket aside. If you have a plastic shower curtain, remove it from the shower curtain rod and place it in the bucket before setting it aside.
- 4). Pour 1/2 cup baking soda down the shower drain. Pour 1/2 cup vinegar down the drain to clean out the drain.
- 5). Spray vinegar on all shower surfaces and wait 20 minutes. If your shower has a door, spray the interior and rails.
- 6). Wipe down the shower surfaces with a damp sponge. Scrub the shower surfaces thoroughly with a wet, nonabrasive scrubbing pad. If necessary, sprinkle baking soda or salt directly on the shower surfaces or the pad as you scrub to help dislodge soap scum and stains.
- 7). Remove the showerhead from the bucket. Scrub it gently with a soft-bristled brush to remove mineral deposit buildup and then rinse it thoroughly with hot water. When finished, dry the threaded connector and reattach it to the shower pipe.
- 8). Pull the shower curtain, if applicable, from the bucket and rinse the vinegar from it. If you have a shower/tub combination, rinse it in the tub. If you don't, rinse it in a large bucket or take it outside and rinse it with a hose. If your shower, doesn't have a curtain, skip this step.
- 9). Turn on the shower's hot water and rinse the baking soda or salt and any other residues from shower surfaces, wiping the surfaces down with a fresh sponge. If you have a shower door, squeegee the door and then spray a sponge with vinegar, wipe the exterior of the door and rinse with a wet sponge.
