What was an otherwise uplifting and joyful event at Texas Southern University celebrating Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth referred to as Trae Day turned ugly when shots rang out around 8:30 p.m.
Several outlets are reporting that six people were shot, one of which was a student at TSU.

TSU Police released a statement via the Office of Communication saying that an ongoing investigation into the matter has yet to turn up any concrete leads.


Mayoral candidate Peter Brown, who was on hand at the event earlier in the day, issued a statement as well relaying his well wishes to those involved.

Injuries to the persons who were hit were described as "serious but not life threatening" by TSU's Office of Communication.
