How to Identify ATI Video Cards
- 1). Click "Start," and then "Control Panel." Double-click "System," select the Hardware tab, and click "Device Manager." Click the + sign next to Display Adapters to expand that category. If the proper drivers are installed, the system will display the card's model number. If they aren't installed, however, the only way to identify the card is to open the system.
- 2). Shutdown the computer, and unplug the power cable from the back of the system. Unscrew the two screws holding the left side panel in place, and slide the panel off.
- 3). Find the video card. Part of the card will be visible from the back of the system for the monitor to plug into, so it should be easy to locate. On the top of the card will be a white sticker containing a bar code, the card's serial number, and the model number. Write down the model number and any other details printed on the sticker.
- 4). Replace the side panel, and tighten the two screws. Plug the computer back in, and turn it on. The model number can now be used to download drivers or make configuration changes.
