    • 1). Check for software updates and install them. Updates correct problems in software programs.

    • 2). Run your anti-virus program. Running a whole computer scan will detect and eliminate any bugs.

    • 3). Defragment your computer. Choose "Start," "Control Panel," "System and Maintenance," "Administrative Tools" and select "Defragment Your Hard Drive."

    • 4). Clean up your disk and dump unnecessary files. Choose "Start," "All Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools" and select "Disk Cleanup."

    • 5). Remove unused programs. Go to "Start," "Control Panel," "Programs," "Programs and Features," select the program and click on "Uninstall."
