How to Make a Split Shot Bass Rig
- 1). Spool 6-pound test fishing line on a 6.5-foot medium-action rod and reel.
- 2). Tie a size 1 or 1/0 hook onto the end of the fishing line using a Palomar knot (see Resources).
- 3). Clamp two round, split shot weights 18 inches above the hook. Sizes 2 and 4 work well.
- 4). Thread a 4-inch worm with a curled tail onto the hook. To do so, insert the point of the hook through the head of the worm. Thread the worm up the shank of the hook until it is just below the eye of the hook. Push the hook point through the worm so the hook is exposed and the worm is straight on the hook. Push the worm upward slightly so the head is flush with the eye of the hook.
