If you're in North County San Diego and aren't sure where to eat, just head to Old California Restaurant Row in San Marcos and you'll be able to find something to fill your hunger cravings. In case you're overwhelmed with the choices, though, I've put together a little cheat sheet of recommendations. 

First though, what exactly is Old California Restaurant Row you may be wondering? It actually started as a farmer's market after a couple by the last name of Eubank moved from Orange County to San Marcos looking for a more rural lifestyle (yes, San Marcos was considered rural back then).


The Eubanks purchased 20 acres, part of which Old California Restaurant Row now resides on and started the food area by opening up a farmer's market. That farmer's market eventually grew into a food court and then a restaurant and then another and another restaurant. Today, it is now the largest complex of restaurants in North County with an Edwards Cineplex right next door making it a popular "dinner and a movie" date night destination.

This delicious Thai restaurant strives to bring authentic Thai cuisine to North County San Diego. The atmosphere features traditional Thai décor and the service is friendly and prompt. Try the curry.

Sublime Ale House is one of the newer restaurants on Old California Restaurant Row and it has been met with much love thanks to its tantalizing macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese and pizza creations.

You can’t stop here without trying one of the signature mac and cheeses.

Steak House: Old California Mining Company

Old California Mining Company has a rustic décor reminiscent of California gold rush days and the eatery serves up hefty portions of hearty entrees, including several “smokehouse” ones. The steak options come with mouthwatering marinades and are served with a smile.

Seafood: Fish House Vera Cruz
