How to Fix Scratches on Plexiglass Surfaces
- 1). Fill a 1 gallon bucket up with warm water. Mix in a couple of drops of liquid dishwashing soap. Clean the scratches and the area around the scratches with a soft cloth and apply the warm soapy water to remove any dirt. Dry the soapy water off of the Plexiglass with a clean soft cloth.
- 2). Open the Plexiglass polishing kit and remove all of the components. The kit consists of a minor scratch remover, a heavy scratch remover, plastic polish and polishing cloths. The scratch remover is made out of mineral spirits, silica, christilline silicas, morpholene, oleic acid and water. The Plexiglass polish kit works by buffing out the scratches from the plexiglass instead of filling them in.
- 3). Apply the heavy scratch remover to one of the polishing cloths. Hold the polishing cloth at a 90-degree angle to the scratch. Scrub the cloth over the scratches by using a back and forth motion. Continue the process until most or all of the scratches are gone.
- 4). Wipe away the excess scratch remover off the Plexiglass with a clean polishing cloth. Ensure that the remaining scratch remover is completely wiped away.
- 5). Apply the minor scratch remover to a clean polishing cloth. Scrub the scratches by using a small circular wiping motion. Once the remover dries, buff the Plexiglass with a polishing cloth to finish removing the scratches.
- 6). Apply the plastic polish to the Plexiglass with a cloth. Wait until the polish almost dries and then buff the Plexiglass with a clean cloth until the surface is smooth and shiny.
