How to Replace a LCD Inverter on a Presario 2100
- 1). Power down your laptop, disconnect the power cable and miscellaneous devices. Close the LCD screen until it securely latches. Place the laptop face down and remove the battery pack.
- 2). Place the Compaq Presario 2100 laptop face up and open the LCD screen all the way. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the rubber screw covers on the front panel of the laptop.
- 3). Remove the Phillips-head screws lining the edge of the the front LCD panel. Remove the front panel from the LCD assembly.
- 4). Locate the LCD inverter inside the bottom edge of the LCD assembly. Disconnect the cables from each end of the inverter board. Lift the inverter board out of the LCD assembly and set it aside.
- 5). Connect the power cables to each end of the new inverter board. Place the inverter board inside the LCD assembly in the slot where the old inverter board was installed.
- 6). Replace the front panel and its retaining Phillips-head screws. Replace the rubber screw covers. Close the LCD screen, flip the laptop over and replace the battery pack inside its compartment. Place the laptop face up and reconnect all cables and devices.
- 7). Turn on your laptop to see if your LCD screen is working properly.
