Stead, Nevada is eight miles north of Reno. Reno is the state's third largest gaming city and boasts 22 casinos. Stead is best known as the home of the National Championship Air Races. Though Stead itself has no accommodations, Reno, which is only about a 20-minute drive away, does, and some offer shuttle service to and from the airport. - The El Dorado Hotel Casino, about 20 minutes from the Stead airport, is right in the center of Reno.
