Lakes Near Cherokee Village, Arkansas
- Lake Thunderbird is a Cherokee Village reservoir. The lake is equipped with a full service marine for boating access. Recreational boating and fishing are both encouraged on the lake. Thunderbird is one of three lakes in Cherokee Village to permit boats that make a wake for skiing or wake boarding. The lake sits at an elevation of 404 feet above sea level. Lake Thunderbird is the largest of the Cherokee Village lakes with an area of 264 acres.
- Lake Sequoyah connects directly to Lake Thunderbird via a man-made canal. This canal is large enough to allow for boats. Thus, the Lake Thunderbird marina may be used for recreational boating and fishing access to both Thunderbird and Sequoyah. As with all Cherokee Village lakes, Lake Sequoyah is stocked with catfish, black and largemouth bass, crappie and other species native to the region. Lake Sequoyah is located in the center of Cherokee Village.
- Lake Omaha is horseshoe-shaped and sits northwest of Cherokee Village's central pairing of Thunderbird and Sequoyah. Like Lake Thunderbird, Lake Omaha is equipped with a marina and is large enough to permit recreational boating, fishing and water sports. In addition to being fully stocked with a variety of native fish species, Lake Omaha is home to the Omaha Community Center. Amenities of the Center include three swimming pools, a fully equipped health and fitness center, a miniature golf course and a spa.
- The four other lakes within the city limits of Cherokee Village are Chanute, Aztec, Navaho and Cherokee. Lake Cherokee is just north of Lake Sequoyah; its southern tip nearly touches the northern limit of Sequoyah. All of these lakes have no-wake boating and fishing. Other lakes in the area surrounding Cherokee Village include Lakes Rainbow and Sherwood, both of which are located northeast of the city.
